OCOLOY 2025: July

22 August 2025

I feel like I write the same opening every time: July was a stressful month, and there weren't as many opportunities for going to do photography as I expected, hoped and wanted. But the few times I had the chance to head out with my Ricoh GR IIIx I was quite motivated and had a lot of fun. The side challenge I've chosen for July also worked towards that: negative space. An interesting and relatively easy composition concept, and also one with perhaps more different definitions than photographers. As with the entire OCOLOY project, I also have a relatively relaxed view as to what constitutes a negative space photo. And due to the lack of time, the number of photos I created didn't leave that much room for being nitpicky about it.

Before we come to the pictures, a short outlook on the next few months. In August, I was two weeks away and took only my Fujifilm for practical reasons. Therefore, there are only two weeks left for the OCOLOY challenge. September will be more or less exactly the same. But in the last quarter of the year, everything should be a bit more relaxed and slowed down. At least that's how it appears now. However, I have already chosen my side challenges until November and I'm looking forward to all of them.
